im just finishing this work in south america (favela on blast film and studio – we meeting with gilberto gil today).. its been really cool to get out of rio and do some shows too – i really under estimated whats happenin here.. kids in curitiba, goiania, manaus, sao paulo… and especially the kids making music in argentina really blew my mind (wait til you hear the new podcast – minimal psych cumbia gauchito folkstep or something) its like every girl in buenos aires is a fashion designer and dude is a cumbia dubstep producer .. besides falling off the stage in RIo (at multiplicidade onto the giant robot) it was all bananas -big up sany pitbull for pickin me up off the floor! and rocking with me on the MPC – in argentina they (even hot girls) were eatin steak backstage, and in goianias i think only girls live in that city.. wtf? ill do a full post about the tour after TIM fest with sinden, spankrock and hot chip this weekend in RIO

The undoubted highlight from her Kala LP, Paper Planes was the closest 2007 had to an anthem, even though its not even out as a single till March (the DFA & Diplo mixes just landed on my doormat this morning

A loop from The Clash’s “Straight To Hell” forms the base while MIA’s fairly random lyrics work a treat and the sweet as sugar children’s choir chorus is wonderfully subverted with gunshots and cash machines. It’s worth a listen to the original version (see below as posted on Diplo’s fantastic Mad Descent blog) which features a gun shot/cash machine free chorus (MP3). [...]
