Last year this 7ft tall Baby Lurch (or as our friend Laura calls him “a real life anime character”) named Jesse starting frequenting our parties in Vancouver. I’d hear rumors that he was a genius, could do flash on myspace profiles and how a design company picked him up outta high school and hired him to work in the UK after the summer. Well, it ends up that every rumor was true. And he’s one of the most non ego, most caring dudes i ever met. I visited him the last time I was in London and to my surprise he bought turntables, a mixer, serato and ableton. And he’s amazing, outta no where he made 6 tracks banging disco tracks,a few edits and he can also DJ. His production formula rips, it’s like the old Bucketheads album he takes bad pop disco tracks from the likes of Con Fuck Shun and Ike Turner and chops them up till they don’t suck. He’s already got labels knocking for remixes and his taste in anime rips too. Here are a few of his tracks and his July 2008 Mix. Oh, and album art by Friend too but i have a feeling his design is gonna take the back seat pretty soon.

I find it hard you give directly torrent to Yuasa Masaaki’s masterpiece mindgame, greatest animation movie of those last years. Okay it’s hard to find but when people work their ass off to make such an artwork you can give them a chance to buy it by giving just a trailer. It’s not fun when big things are just brought to you without having to look for them. It makes spoiled childs.

Okay, I just linked to the trailer. So if people wanna watch it they’ll have to google it themselves or go rent it. I don’t know if i’m the exception but after I downloaded the film, I went out and bought the DVD. It wasn’t hard to find at all in Vancouver, and online it’s even on Amazon.

Mind Game is for the people. The more people that realise the genius of that film the better! Has it ever ever gotten a proper release outside of Japan? Not in Australia thats for sure, and its been over 2 and half years. Feel no shame in posting that shit up Devro.
