Let me be the first to officially welcome Toy Selectah to the Mad Decent fold! You might have seen him post up a couple things on the blog but this guy is so much deeper than that… Toy is an icon in Mexican music, producing one of the first and biggest hip hop acts there with Control Machete back in the 90s, moving on to A&R and direct for the biggest latin acts on Universal, reviving the Mexican cumbia scene with live dj sets around the world, etc etc. Also one of the coolest mofos we got going in the crew, tripping straight out of Monterrey and showing Diplo all the best shit every time he’s down in MX.
Anyway, we’ve got a 12″ coming from him in January with his crew Sonidero Nacional under the Cumbias Machine name. Look out for big things!
In the meantime check out this remix for PR stars Calle 13 and some words about the process from Toy himself. Its a bit more pop than the sound he’s working on for us but still cool and interesting to hear some words about the latin music scene:
Calle 13 feat Café Tacuba – NADIE COMO TU (Toy Selectah Raverton Remix)
first single of new Calle 13 album, official remix. The song features Mexican alt-rockers Cafe Tacuba, well known all around latin america and the states – think about David Byrne meets Flammig Lips with Mexico City old school. And Calle 13 is definitely THE PUERTO RICO Progressive thinkers and well respected from Rock to Pop to Reggaeton to Mainstream Latin USA Media… This is their third album after 2 successful ones, actually we won an american Grammy as best URBAN ALBUM in 2007 (I say we won cause i won it to as producer and coproducer of some tracks ), and I introduced these two groups to eachother with the idea that they do a song together. I couldnt make it to the end of the process and mix the new album cause of Europe summer gigs and travels to South America, but I got the remix shot.

oye toy me interesa comprar esos remix para traerlos en el ipod ya k soy un dj de closet ajajaja por asi decirlo no se si me puedas dar informacion d donde comprarlos alguna pagina web o alguna tienda todos los remix como el “a milli”, “lollipop”… vi un video den youtube que sales con dj blass tmb ese remix si se puede y si los tienes en venta?
