India Post 5 : Fews Dayz of Madness

I was trying to do a post a day which i did i theory. I typed it up, shrunk the photos, cut video but thats the easy part. Uploading and getting everything to work on a time limit is next to impossible. So here the quick version, with many video and songs to come.

So here’s the cool news, Bappi wants to do a Heaps Decent project with the kids from Dharavi, not only that he already wrote like 4 songs since we first talked, one even inspired by Obama’s inaugural speech. So we brought some kids to his crib to lay down some tracks. It was quite a scene, parents kissing bappi’s feet, everyone eating treats and Bappi coming up with new songs as we were recording.

Then next day was the workshop, the heaps decent workshop and it was amazing. We came out with 3 songs after only a few hours and the girls didnt want to quit singing their songs but the parents came and had to ruin all our fun. We covered all the important topics from boys to chocolate to skipping and we recorded in the same school where they shot slumdog.

After the recording sessions i was given a quick tour of the recycling plant which handles 80 percent of Mumbais recycling, the palce is a city with walls of recycling materials and hundreds of rooms with each one having its own purpose crushing choping, breaking everything down.

Then i took off to raid for records and afer about 8 shops and going through a few thousand records I found everything I’ve been wanting from the bollywood side,Shalimar to Seeta aur Gheeta and the western side Hindi Beatles covers to Hindi Boney M Covers .

Then I had beers with jimmy the fashion designer who gave me the run down on old Bombay which seemed like a madd place. And so today we have the Press Conference with Bappi in Dharavi and then we party on some rooftop. I’ll fill you in with how it all went.
Check out this article that’s already up! (lol at MD from LA, we’re big time!)

seeing stacks of records mysteriously still gives me a boner. Same vein: my heart will always jump at the site of a skate spot no matter how many years its been since ive been able to do something at one.
