Egyptrixx was over in town this week - it seemed like the ideal opportunity to get him into Kiss HQ to have a chat and play some exclusive unheard new material. The show's rounded off nicely with a sick DJ mix also - Egyptrixx spraying the place up with brand new dubs! Yes, the new material is special (rooks theme!! liberation front!!)

This epic mother of all classics samples the fantastic Loleatta Holloway, combining powerful chords, acid synths and raw uncut vocals. 20 years down the line its still as strong as when it first hit the streets.

The Future of Music

Hi all, DJA here.

There has been a lot of talk in the last week or so in regards to Apples new service, ping. I won't get into it here, but will instead link to an excellent article on the topic over at create digital music.

Within that article, I found this great hack which is a part of "music hack day", described as "A full weekend of music hacking. Software + hardware + art + the web. Come build the future of music." The hack is called "Future of Music", and was made as a response to "music recommenders and music similarity services". As the creator Brian Whitman puts it:

"If we rely on these computer programs to learn about music, well we might as well rely on them to fix the sins of our past and delete the crap we are obviously not meant to listen to anymore. "Future of Music (2010)" is a Mac OS X app that scans your iTunes library and computes the music you are not supposed to listen to anymore based on your preferences. It then helpfully deletes it from iTunes and your hard drive. Skips the recycle bin. Just like other recommender systems, it uses a lot of fancy math (and data from Echo Nest and last.fm) that really doesn't matter in the end. Just click the button and let it take care of your life."

There is something about the picture above (well, two things) that make me laugh. Can you see them?

I'm such a sucker for girl raps and Total Freedom comes through big with all these . I think i hear Too Crunk Misses on here, reminds me of older memphis shit like Princess Loko or wait is she on here too? Either way I can't tell where or when these tunes are from, i'm just gonna shut up and listen. Shout out to Ghe20 G0thik for putting this out, they throw the most underground party in NYC but don't bother trying to look it up, they don't want you there.
